Today's Lesson
We will start with an introduction to nouns, pronouns, and their key concepts.
Next, we will look at a variety of examples to guide our learning.
Then, we will have a chance to practice together as a whole class.
After that, you will get to practice on your own to show what you know.
Finally, we will review everything we have learned in today's lesson.
3
Learning Objectives
We will identify nouns and pronouns in sentences.
Understand how nouns and pronouns function differently in writing.
Explain how pronouns help us avoid repeating words.
Choose the correct pronouns to use in our writing.
4
What Are Nouns and Pronouns?
Repeating a name over and over can sound repetitive and awkward.
A noun names a person, place, thing, or idea, like 'Maria' or 'park'.
A pronoun is a special word that takes the place of a noun.
Words like 'she,' 'he,' 'it,' and 'they' are examples of pronouns.
Using pronouns makes your writing much smoother and more interesting.
5
Let's Look at an Example
One example repeats the noun 'Maria' three times, which sounds very repetitive.
The second, better example uses the pronoun 'she' to replace the noun 'Maria'.
Using the pronoun 'she' helps the sentences flow more smoothly and sound natural.
The pronoun 'she' is clear, so we know it refers back to 'Maria'.
Pronouns make our writing clearer and more interesting by avoiding repetition.
