What Are Literary Elements?
Literary elements are the important parts that make up a story.
When we understand them, we become better readers and better writers!
Elements we will learn today:

Characters can:
Characters are the people, animals, or creatures in a story.

Setting
- The setting is when and where a story takes place.
Examples of settings:
a beach on a sunny morning
a classroom after school
a castle in the Middle Ages
a forest at midnight

The bike is fixed
The storm passes
The mystery is solved
Resolution (solution):
A lost puppy
A broken bike
A huge storm
A tricky mystery
Conflict (problem):
Plot (Conflict & Resolution)
- The plot is what happens in the story: the main problem and how it gets solved.

A friend moving away (changes a character’s feelings)
A surprise party (creates a happy mood)
A clue being found (builds the plot)
