Vocab Review
Subject: Noun or Pronoun (Person, Place, Thing, Idea, He, She, It, They, Them)
Verb: Action Word (What is the noun or pronoun doing?)
Agreement: They work together and go together
Singular: only 1 noun or pronoun (She, He, It, You)
Plural: More than 1 noun or pronoun (we, they, them)
To-Be Verbs + ing: Is, Are, Were, Was and a verb ending in -ing
6
Singular
If you have only 1 noun or pronoun, then the
verb has an -s at the end.
EXAMPLES:
She covers the baby with a blanket.
Juan hits the baseball really hard.
The car handles really well.
The building stands tall.
7
Drag and Drop
The soccer player
Avery
Jake
Reading
8
Plural
If you have 2 or more nouns or pronouns (They, them, we),
then you do NOT add an -s at the end.

10
To-Be Verbs + -ing Verb
This works in past and present tense. The difference is the “to-be” verb. It was you are actively doing
something, or were actively doing something, you use: is, are, was, were and then add a normal verb
with an -ing ending.
EXAMPLES:
They are covering the baby with a blanket.
Juan and David were hitting the baseball really hard.
The car is handling really well.

an -s. If the nouns are plural, then the verb is
plural.
