Nervous System ppt 2009

Multiple Choice

Why is the nervous system considered one of the most important systems in the human body?

• It controls movement and senses, allowing us to interact with our environment.

• It is responsible for digestion and absorption of nutrients.

• It produces hormones that regulate growth.

• It stores energy for future use.

Multiple Choice

Which of the following statements about nerve fibers is correct?

• Dendrites conduct impulses away from the cell body.

• Axons receive impulses and move them toward the cell body.

• Schwann cells are sheaths found around the axon.

• Myelin makes unmyelinated nerve fibers appear gray.

Fill in the Blanks

Neuroglial cells are several times more numerous than neurons in the

and spinal cord.
