The Legal Process
Step 1
Person X is charged with a crime and is called to court for a hearing.
Step 2
Person X hires a lawyer to represent them and help defend them in court.
Step 3
Their lawyer gathers evidence and builds a case to prepare for court.
Step 4
The lawyer is present in court to defend Person X against the prosecutor.
Step 5
A judge determines if that Person X is guilty or not and determines sentencing or a fine.

The steps to becoming a lawyer are as follows:
Obtain a bachelor's degree
Apply for law school
Complete law school for a master's degree
Pass the bar exam
Obtain licensure to practice law
It is a long process that requires time, money and effort...so what are some other options?!

Paralegals
The team that works around lawyers to help prepare a defense will often include a paralegal. A paralegal conducts research to assist lawyers in preparing for court proceedings. Paralegals need to be very detail-oriented. They may get tasks to carefully comb through documents to find the details that can win the court case.
