• introduction paragraph - with a thesis statement, which your essay will defend. Write the introduction paragraph in three to five sentences.

• body paragraph - cite at least two different primary sources and explain how they show major ideas in intellectual, spiritual, or political thought of 1300 to 1800. Write the body paragraph in six or more sentences.

• conclusion paragraph - restate your thesis statement, summarize your main ideas, and end with a memorable closing. Write the conclusion paragraph in three to five sentences.
