One of his most significant impacts was on the feudal system. Charlemagne  established a feudal system of government, where he granted land to nobles in exchange  for their loyalty and military service. This system helped centralize power and maintain  control over his vast empire. The nobles, also referred to as barons, would provide  protection and advice to Charlemagne in return for the use of his land.

In the year 800, Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne as the Emperor of the  Romans, linking the power of the Church with the authority of the emperor. This event  marked the revival of the title “Roman Emperor” in Western Europe since the fall of the  Western Roman Empire in 476. The Holy Roman Empire became a  prominent political entity in medieval Europe, encompassing vast territories and exerting  significant influence over religious and secular (non-religious) affairs.

He actively supported the spread of Christianity and sought to convert pagans to  the Christian faith. Charlemagne established monasteries and encouraged the education  of clergy to ensure the spread of Christian teachings. He also convened church councils to  address religious matters and enforce Christian doctrine. As a result, Christianity became  the dominant religion in the Holy Roman Empire, shaping the religious and cultural  landscape of medieval Europe.
