2
Work vs. Job
Student's Book - p. 46
3
LOOK!
Job is a count noun - we can use it in the plural.
Ex: She did four jobs before she became a travel agent.
Work is an noncount noun - we don't use it in the plural.
Ex: I have a lot of work to do tonight.
4
JOB VS WORK
Job is specific and limited - it describes your occupation or profession, such as teacher, engineer, or chef. It typically implies a formal employment position within an organization where you receive compensation
5
JOB VS WORK
Work, : on the other hand, is used for tasks, duties, or activities you perform.
It can describe school assignments, household chores, or employment-related tasks.
Work represents the mental or physical effort required to complete something, regardless of whether it's paid.

Predictions (will, may and might)
By Misael Villalba
15
Predictions when you are certain
Will and won't
16
Will and Won't (will not)
We use "will" and "won't" followed by the verb in infitive to make predictions about the future.
Example: It will be sunny tomowrrow => There'll be lots of traffic tonight => She won't be here in time => It definitely won't rain tonight.
We can use the contracted version of will => 'll. We use Will/Won't followed by the verb in infinitive when we are certain about our prediction.

Predictions
17
Predictions when you are less certain
Will + Probably / Probably + Won't
18
Will probably / Probably won't
We use "Probably" to talk about predictions you are not very certain about but it is very likely to happen.
Examples: I'll probably go to the gym tonight => You probably won't see Karen tomorrow.
Probably goes after will but it goes before won't.
19
Predictions when you are not certain
May and Might
20
May and Might
We use May and Might to talk about a prediction that is possible but you are not certain if it will happen.
Example: He may be hungry when he gets home => There might not be any food on the flight.
Might is considered less probable than May

Making, Accepting and Refusing Requests
Requests use could, would, can, and will
We use Could and Would as polite ways of telling or asking someone to do something.
Using Can and Will is less formal and are also used to make polite requests, they are just not as soft as Could or Would.
77
Making Requests
Using "Could" and "Would"
Could you let them know I called?
Would you carry this for me, please?
Could I have some ice with my drink?
These phrases are polite ways to ask someone for help.
78
Making Requests
Using "Can" and "Will"
These words are less formal but still acceptable:
Can you pass the ketchup?
Will you carry this for me?
Can I get a size 7 in this shoe, please?
While these are still polite, they are not as soft as "could" and "would."
79
Accepting Requests
Using "Could" and "Would"
Sure, I could do that.
Of course, I would be happy to.
Yes, I would be delighted to.
Yeah, no problem!
Once you've received a polite request, you can accept by aknowledging and confirming or reassuring the request.
80
Accepting Requests
Using "Can" and "Will"
Sure, I can do that.
Yes, I will.
Definitely, I'll do it.
Once you've received a polite request, you can accept by aknowledging and confirming or reassuring the request.
81
Refusing Requests
Using "Could" and "Would"
Sorry, I have plans already, I wouldn't be able to tonight.
Sorry, I couldn't tell you where that is, I dont live here.
Once you've received a polite request, you can refuse politely by apologising, provide a reason and express an inability.
82
Refusing Requests
Using "Can't" and "Won't"
So Sorry, I can't carry anything else, my hands are full.
Sorry, I lost track of time, I won't be ready until later.
Once you've received a polite request, you can refuse politely by apologising, provide a reason and/or express an inability to .

Life 4e Covering letter
86
Cover Letters
87
What is a cover letter?
A 1-page letter that you send in with your resume when applying for a job. It is meant to introduce yourself to the hiring manager.
88
The cover letter is the first thing a future employer will see. Because a job application and resume are easily readable, a cover letter is used to showcase your personality and show why you stand out above the rest.
89
A good cover letter has...
an opening statement that introduces you to the reader
a main body that reveals your skills, personality and interest in the position
a closing statement asking to arrange an interview.
90
Tips:
Try to find a contact person and address the letter appropriately.
Make sure the name is spelled correctly.
The more personal your letter is, the better.
