What is a fixed mindset?

• a belief that one's intelligence is static
• when you've made up your mind about something
• a desire to repair things
• having your mind SET on learning

When something is difficult,

• it's a sign that you aren't QUITE smart enough.
• it may mean you have a learning disability.
• the topic is beyond your abilities.
• Your brain grows.

It is important to tell your students they've done a good job...

• so that they are motivated to learn.
• if you pair it with something about the PROCESS they used.
• False. You should NEVER tell your students "Good job!"
• whenever they succeed.

When students fail,

• you probably need to reteach.
• it is important to keep this information private.
• they have reason to be upset.
• you can share this with the class and discuss it.

Success in any area depends...

• solely on your dedication to learning.
• solely on talent.
• both on talent and mindset.
• on good luck.

When you don't 'get' math, 

• It may be genetic because your parents weren't 'math people', either.
• maybe your brain just isn't wired for numbers.
• it's most likely due to the way the teacher presented it.
• just add 'yet' on the end of that sentence and change your attitude!

Students who believe that their INTELLIGENCE (IQ) can be strengthened...

• outperform those who believe their intelligence is static.
• can be a handful in the classroom.
• should be tested for a 'gifted' IEP.
• are incorrect. IQ is not something that changes.

Teaching students about neurology...

• should be mandatory starting in middle school.
• can improve learning even at primary grades.
• is now a part of national health standards at all levels.
• is a little more than kids in elementary are ready for.

Three of these are good rules. Which one might not be?

• Students should learn from various sources, not just the teacher.
• Social media has no place in school.
• Teachers should allow students to choose what they learn.
• Fail, then try, try, and try again.

Praising children...

• is a way to manipulate them.
• increases their interest.
• raises the chances of success.
• helps them form their own judgements.
