On January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck Haiti and left its capital city, Port-au-Prince, in ruins. The earthquake measured a 7.0 magnitude on the Richter scale. This powerful earthquake left 230,000 people dead and caused more than 1,500,000 people to lose their homes. The earthquake caused so much destruction that it took many years to clean up and rebuild the city. Foreign countries, such as the United States, donated billions of dollars to help Haiti recover from this disaster.

Robins build nests 2-3 times per year, which means that they are expert builders. First, they have to find a suitable place to build their nest. Next, they gather dried pieces of grass and small twigs. Because they can only fit a small amount in their beaks, they must make many trips to collect all of the materials for their nest. Then they build the nest from the inside out by pressing the pieces of dead grass and twigs into a cup shape. Finally, they reinforce the nest with soft mud and line it with dry grass.

Sometimes children forget to put the lids on their markers, which causes their markers to dry out. This can be really frustrating, especially if the markers are brand new. Luckily, there are some simple solutions for getting these dried out markers to work again. One solution is to dip the tips of the markers into white vinegar for a few minutes and then let them sit overnight. Another thing to try is to dip the tips of the markers into water and paint with them. This will give your drawings a watercolor effect.
