You are making a slide set using google slides, and you put a song in the background, what must you do?

• give credit to the song´s artist in the reference slide

• give credit to the song´s artist as a footnote on the slide, if it is used on only one slide

• nothing, the song was free on the internet

• tell your friend that you don´t need to cite the song because it isn´t all that good

In your English paper, you use a quote from Shakespeare, you must

• put quotation marks around the quote

• cite the quotation directly after you use it in the paper (in-line/parenthetical)

• cite the specific book or website on which you found the quotation (there are lots of places that you can find Shakespeare, and you must credit the SPECIFIC ONE!)

• nothing, luckily, because Shakespeare is dead and doesn´t know you used his quote

If you choose to glamorize your google slides by using Slides Carnival (a free website with cool templates!) you must

• delete the slide that gives reference to your use of Slides Carnival

• tell your friends that you made the slides yourself because you are such a great designer

• keep the slide that Slides Carnival made that gives credit for the creation of that slide set

• switch the order of the slides so you don´t need to give a reference

You found a great youtube video that explained how to build the model that you needed for your physics project, you should

• not tell anyone

• give credit to youtube/and the creator in your reference section for your project

• mention it to your physics teacher at the beginning of class

• title your paper the same title as the youtube video

How to cite sources will be shared

• by my English teacher

• by my Biology teacher -- especially before a project is due

• by my math teacher -- especially before a project is due

• by my guidance counselor when we meet about my schedule

If you use a quote from the Bible in your English paper, you must

• use quotation marks, if you cite it exactly

• use an in-line/parenthetical citation, if you use quotation marks

• reference in the reference section that provides credit for the quotation -- as taken from the copy of the Bible you chose to cite

• nothing, the Bible does not need to be cited

If you cite popular song lyrics in quotation marks, you also must

• provide an in-line/parenthetical citation

• create a reference citation on your reference page that explains the details about the publisher, artist, year, etc. of the song

• nothing, everyone knows who sings that song

• nothing, you never have to cite something if it is just common knowledge

You look at some resources to get ideas, but you don´t actually take any quotes from those resources, you should

• still provide references to those sources in the reference section of your paper/presentation

• not worry about giving references

• not tell anyone

• create in-line/parenthetical citations

Basically, you need to remember

• if you looked at it for ideas, cite it

• if you quote it directly, cite it in in-line/parenthetical AND references

• if you did not create the idea on your own, it must be given credit

• giving credit where credit is due is really important, and you should talk with your teachers if you have questions

You chose a really neat background picture for a slide from google images, you should

• just cite ¨google images¨ on your reference slide

• cite as much information as you can find in the appropriate format on the reference slide (talk to your teacher for help!)

• provide an in-line/parenthetical/footnote with the link to the source

• you don´t need to cite anything because google searches are free
