2- The Second Main Makhraj: Al-Halq (the throat)

We have three sub-makharij in the throat:

• 1- Al-Jawf(the throat and oral cavities )2-The tongue 3-gum ridge

• 1-the Far Throat (Aqsal-Halq)2-the Middle Throat (wasatul-Halq)3-the Near Throat(Adnal-Halq)

The far throat letters are :

• ع-ح

• غ-خ

• ء-ه

• ا-و-ي

Al-hamza as-sakinah (hamza with sukoun) is produced by

• distancing the vocal cords a little from each other.

• complete closure of the vocal cords.

• bringing the vocal cords close to each other but without closing them completely

Al-haa' is produced by

• bringing the vocal cords close to each other but without closing them completely.

• complete closure of the vocal cords.

Make the haa' and the hamzah

• heavy

• light

We should give hams (let the breath come with it when you pronounce it) for

• haa` ه

• hamzah ء

• khaa` خ

• alh'aa' ح

The Middle Throat letters are:

• ه ع

• خ غ

• ع ح

the common mistakes in pronouncing the ع is making it

• similar to خ

• similar to the alif

• similar to ح

When the ح has sukoon and it is between two letters which have damma, you should

• keep the lips rounded when pronouncing the ح but not too much

• not keep the lips rounded when pronouncing the ح

• keep the lips rounded when pronouncing the ح

The Near Throat letters

• ه ء

• ع ح

• ف ق

• غ خ
