The richest family locks away their daughter but she somehow finds her way out. She meets a boatman who plays a beautiful tune on his flute. When he is not who she thinks he is, she has to discover a way to get back home. Eventually when the boatman dies she realizes she loved him the whole time.

A pretty young daughter is kept hidden away but she hears a lovely song played by a boatman and dreams of him at night. However, he stops coming around. She becomes ill and her father brings the boatman back to play his song. When she sees him up close, she realizes he is ugly and sends him away. When he dies, she realizes her biggest mistake was letting him go.

A wealthy mandian keeps his daughter hidden in his home. She falls in love with a lonely, poor boatman. When the boatman disappears, the daughter becomes ill, and her father sends for the boatman. The father gives his blessing for them to be together.
