Caste society

• A person who is born into a social and economic groups and cannot rise or fall from that group

• A person who is born into a social and economic group and can rise or fall from that group

• Someone who was born with into a system with no place

What were different benefits of the caste system

• Allowed diverse people and cultures to live in harmony

• People fulfilled their duties to achieve a higher state in next life

• Different castes depended on each other to meet their needs

• Gave people a sense of identity

Clan

• Group of people that decide to fight together

• Group of people with a common ancestor

• Group of people who share a religion

Patriarchal

• Head of family or oldest male

• Head mistress of the family

Feudalism

• System of government in which local lords govern their own lands but owe military service or other kinds of support to their ruler

• System of government in which local lords don't govern their own lands, but they can stay out of military service and other ways to support their ruler

• System of government where everyone shares everything even with their rulers

Similarities between Buddhism and Hinduism

• They both began in India

• They both believe heavily in meditation

• They both have the goal of enlightenment

• They both believe in karma
