Teacher's Box Techniques Quiz - name the technique

Hand out flyswatters. Display flashcards with key vocabulary on the floor and play some energetic music. Ask children to walk around the flashcard display. Pause the music and say out a word shown on one of the flashcards. Students' task is to recognize the word and swat it with a flyswatter while saying it out loudly.

Ask students to sit in a circle. Display a set of flashcards in the middle of the circle on the floor and set a timer to ring after 3 minutes. Students' task is to pass the Toy Doughnut quickly round the circle saying out the words they see in the display. When the time's up, a student holding a doughnut has to make a sentence using one of the words from the display.

Write key words/sentences in L1 (Polish) on ice-cream sticks and put them into a cup with the print down for students not to see what's on them. Take 3 additional sticks and draw a red spot on them, put them into the cup, too. Set the timer to 5 minutes time. Students' task is to take out a random stick and translate the word they get. If the word is translated correctly, the student takes the stick as a point and passes the cup forward, to the next student. That's how the learners collect the points. If any of them takes a stick with a red dot, they have give their points back to the cup. The game finishes when the time's up. The student with the biggest number of points wins.

Stick masking tape in a shape of a hopscotch on the floor. Put a flashcard in each square. Ask students to queue. The first student throws a bean bag onto one of the flashcards, jumps towards it naming all words on the way, and when they reach the flashcard the bean bag is located on, they make a sententence using this word. Have all students do the task.

Start the lesson with a toilet paper roll in your hands, which will make students confused. Ask each one of them to take as many sheets as they like. They will still not know what is going on. After everyone has taken their sheets (some of the students will take too many, but it will be funnier then), ask them to count them. Students' task is to write as many sentences (using a particular grammar tense, for example Past Simple) as the number of toilet paper sheets they have taken. After having all sentences written, the learners read them out loud.
