You are an intern working in a residential site project. Your immediate supervisor asked you to accompany the outsourced site manager to perform daily site tour. During one of the site tour, you noted that the work site has safety issues such as lack of safety signages, workers working without wearing personal protective equipment, workers working at height without safety harness, etc. You flagged out this to the outsourced site manager. In your subsequent site tours, you realize the situation has not been improved. You reported this to your immediate superior. He too brushed your concerns away saying that the progress is already behind schedule and as long as there is no accident, it is fine.

Should you report this matter?

• i) The matter is already resolved as I have already highlighted the matter to my immediate superior.

• ii) The matter is not yet resolved, and I should escalate the matter.

New lockers were purchased recently for staff’s usage and the plan was to place them at the pantry area. To avoid blocking the normal passageway to the pantry, the delivery guys installed the lockers beside the fire stairway and blocked the door to the fire exit stairway. You mentioned this to your colleagues, and they were not in favour of reporting this to Admin in fear that the lockers may be removed.

Should you report this matter

• i) There is nothing to report as there are still other fire exit routes.

• ii) The matter is not yet resolved, and I should highlight the matter to the appropriate department(s).

The Project Manager, John shared that he had recently won the lottery and wanted to treat your team to lunch and to also reward the team for putting in extra hours after work to complete the recent award of contracts for the main contractors for three developments. He also shared that he had bought a new car and paid the downpayment for a new house. After work, you decided to go shopping at one of the nearby CapitaMalls to reward yourself for working hard in the past few months. As you walked past a Michelin restaurant, you saw John and the MD of the recent winning main contractor, GreenFlag Pte Ltd. having dinner together. You found this peculiar as John’s responsibility did not require him to be in contact with the MD of GreenFlag. • i) There is nothing to report as business meals are common. Furthermore, I do not have any concrete evidence.

• ii) I shall report the incident as I am still not comfortable over the whole matter.

Since a few weeks ago, you have been receiving text messages from a colleague that you feel that might be sexually suggestive.
