Theme 6-Signs and symptoms of allergic reaction

May trigger asthmatic reactions in some children, as well as very  cold or damp weather. They may start to wheeze or cough, and feel tight-chested or  have difficulty breathing.

Can cause some children to cough, sneeze and wheeze,

particularly children with asthma. It can also cause watery or red eyes and skin rashes, and extreme allergic reactions such

as anaphylaxis.

Children who are allergic to pollen may have red or itchy eyes,

itchy skin or start sneezing and become congested. They may also complain of a headache or earache.

The air can cause babies and young children to have difficulty

breathing or have a runny nose and rash. It can particularly affect those with allergies or asthma.

Reaction to cows’ milk, foods containing gluten, nuts and peanuts, eggs, seeds, shellfish, soya. Cause itchy skin or a rash, wheezing or difficulty in breathing, diarrhoea or stomach upset, sneezing or coughing, red, itchy or swollen eyes  a mild swelling around the lips or eyes.

May trigger minor allergic reactions such as swelling

and itching. However in some cases there may be a serious reaction called anaphylaxis, which may include dizziness or problems with breathing. In this situation you should always call for an ambulance.
