What is government?

• An elected group of people who make decisions for the people who elected them

• Institutions that exist to tell us what we can and cannot do

• Institution through which society makes and enforces its public policies

• An elected group of people who speak for us and interact with other countries

What are public policies?

• All the things the government decides to do

• All the policies that the public supports

• All laws created by the government that affect the people

• All laws that state what we are allowed and not allowed to do in public

What is legislative power?

• Power to enforce laws

• Power to create laws

• Power to interpret laws

What is executive power?

• Power to enforce laws

What is judicial power?

• Power to enforce laws

What is a dictatorship?

• When the responsibility of the exercise of the legislative, executive, and judicial powers are based upon religion
