Discoloration of a coating. It is the diffusion of a oluble colored substance from a substratum, into and through a paint or varnish coating from beneath. Cause is soluble color in the underlying surface.

Formation of dome-shaped projections in paint or varnish films. Cause is due to underlying spots of grease, sap or moisture, to excessive heat or direct exposue to sun during the process of drying

It indicates imperfect attachment to the surface. Swelling of paint film that occurs on walls as well as on wooden metal surface. Cause is poor surface preparation, blistering and abscence of primer.
