US Representative

• Must be 21 years old when sworn in; a resident of the district, but not necessarily the state; citizen for the last 5 years. Serves four-year terms. No term limits.

• Must be 30 years old when sworn in; a resident of the state, but not necessarily the district; citizen for the last 10 years. Serves four-year terms. Term limits apply.

• Must be 25 years old when sworn in; a resident of the state, but not necessarily the district; citizen for the last 7 years. Serves two-year terms. No term limits.

• Must be 18 years old when sworn in; a resident of the district, but not necessarily the state; citizen for the last 2 years. Serves six-year terms. Term limits apply.

US Senator

• Age: 25 years old when sworn in; Residency: District; Citizenship: the last 5 years; Four-year terms, staggered so that only 1/2 of them are up for re-election on any given year; No term limits.

• Age: 30 years old when sworn in; Residency: State; Citizenship: the last 9 years; Six-year terms, staggered so that only 1/3 of them are up for re-election on any given year; No term limits.

• Age: 35 years old when sworn in; Residency: Country; Citizenship: the last 7 years; Eight-year terms, staggered so that only 1/4 of them are up for re-election on any given year; Term limits of two terms.

• Age: 40 years old when sworn in; Residency: Province; Citizenship: the last 10 years; Ten-year terms, staggered so that only 1/5 of them are up for re-election on any given year; Term limits of three terms.
