When shaking hands:

• Bow respectfully at the same time

• Stand half facing

• Stand to attention throughout the bow

• Stand normally in a relaxed position

When you bow bend forward at the waist to about:

• 25 degrees

• 35 degrees

• 15 degrees

• 45 degrees

Protocol for bowing:

• Either senior or junior can initiate the bow

• Both parties should bow at the same time

• Bowing is always initiated by the junior and the senior bows in return

• Bowing is always initiated by the senior and the junior bows in return

When shaking hands:

• Place the left hand over the other person's hand

• Place the left palm on the back forearm

• Relax the other arm by your side

• Place the left palm under the elbow

When transporting a senior in a taxi, the senior should be invited to sit:

• Beside the driver

• In the back behind the driver

• In the back behind the passenger seat

• Where ever they wants to

When emailing a senior:

• The junior should follow the same protocol as if they were face to face

• The junior can use normal everyday language

• The junior should be somewhat respectful

• The junior can use slightly more relaxed language than normal

Table manners and toasting:

• Hold the glass with both hands with the junior's glass lower than senior's

• Hold the glass with one hand with the junior's glass lower than senior's

• Hold the glass with both hands with the senior's glass lower than junior's

• You can choose how to hold your glass so long as you behave with courtesy

When speaking to a senior on the phone, Skype or other forms of media:

• There is no need for any protocol in this case

• The junior should follow the same protocol as if they were face to face

• The junior can be a little more relaxed in this case

• The junior should follow the senior's lead in regards to protocol

When shaking hands, who holds out their hand first?

• The junior should initiate

• Either senior or junior can initiate

• Both should extend the hand at the same time

• The senior always initiates

At the completion of the bow

• They both rise at the same time

• The junior rises first

• The senior rises first

• Either can rise first
