As part of the reevaluation, the admission, review, and dismissal committee and other qualified personnel, as appropriate, must complete a review of existing evaluation data to determine what additional data, if any are needed to determine whether the student

• continues to require special education and related services and whether changes are needed to the services provided.

• continues to require classroom accommodations.

• continues to be eligible for graduation.

• can be exempted from state assessment (i.e. TELPAS, STAAR).

A non example of appropriate consequence on a BIP is

• Escort back to designated location.

• Practice appropriate response

• Offer student choices

• Contact parent to pick student up from school.

A student can be dismissed from a related service such as OT, PT, Counseling, if

• the ARD Committee reviews a recently completed FIE/REED and agrees that the service is no longer required as part of FAPE.

• the parent indicates the student no longer requires the service.

• the student is no longer interested in the service.

• scheduling conflicts make providing the service difficult.

Evaluators obtain informed consent for an initial evaluation by

• sending home a consent form with the student.

• asking the SSA to complete a home visit for a nonresponsive parent.

• meeting with parent, reviewing all required documents, and obtaining signatures.

• asking the special education teacher to have parent sign in the car rider line.
