An extended metaphor in a narrative; a narrative that has a literal meaning, but also has a representative meaning.

A juxtaposition of opposite or contrasting ideas, usually balanced. Can also bring out the contrast of ideas through the use of contrasting phrases.

Directly addressing an inanimate object, abstract idea, or deceased person as though the object, idea, or person were alive. Also can be directly addressing an absent person.
