เด็กชายคนหนึ่งล้วงมือเข้าไปในเหยือกเก็บผลไม้ เขากำเอาผลไม้จนล้นมือ พลันเมื่อเขาจะเอามือออกจากเหยือกผลไม้ มือของเขาติดที่คอเหยือกนั้น  เด็กชายร้องไห้และเสียใจ คนเดินผ่านมาเห็นเข้าจึงร้องบอก “จงกำเอาผลไม้เพียงครึ่งเดียว แล้วเจ้าจะเอามือออกจากเหยือกผลไม้ได้”   นิทานเรื่องนี้สอนให้รู้ว่า อย่าโลภมากในทีเดียว

A young boy reached his hand into a basket to gather fruits. He grabbed the fruits until his hands were overflowing. Suddenly, when he tried to pull his hand out of the fruit basket, his hand got stuck at the neck of the basket. The boy cried and felt upset. A passerby saw this and said, "Just take half of the fruits, and then you'll be able to remove your hand from the basket." This story teaches us not to be too greedy all at once.
