When a judge sustains your objection, you should always respond firstly with:

• Thank you, your honor.

• Yes, your honor

• May it please the court?

• Motion to strike?

Motioning to strike means:

• The testimony, which was spoken onto the record, will now be stricken from the record

• Opposing counsel's questioning will now terminate

• You may now attack opposing counsel

If a judge indicates that they wish for you to motion to strike, your should ask for that motion when...

• Your objection is sustained

• Your objection is noted, but overruled

• Your objection is overruled

When you enter the well, but before you begin your cross/direct examination, you must first ask:

The following questions ought to be asked of a witness when attempting to enter an exhibit (unless the exhibit has been preadmitted)

• "What have I just handed you?"

• "Have you been shown this exhibit before?"

• "Has it been changed or altered in any way?"

• "What does this exhibit say?"

• "Is this a fair and accurate copy?"

When told you do not have to ask permission to approach opposing counsel, you should say ____ when approaching

• "Approaching opposing counsel"

• "Your honor, may I approach opposing counsel?"

• "Permission to approach opposing counsel?"

• "Let the record reflect that I am approaching opposing counsel"
