In the 1960s and 1970s, Japan expanded its industrial base to other Asian countries due to limited land. This was supported by the US to counteract Chinese and Soviet influence during the Cold War. Taiwan, Singapore, South Korea, and Hong Kong, known as the Asian Tigers, experienced rapid industrialization and economic growth. By the 1990s, China emerged as a dominant economic power, with Hong Kong playing a key role in global trade. The ASEAN+3 alliance strengthened regional ties. New Asian Tigers, including Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia, emerged in the 1990s, focusing on industrialization and export-driven growth.
