stiff hip or knee or ankle due to stiffness, laxity or deformity. Pelvis may be elevated on the affected side to provide for toe clearance especially if the hip or knee is fused

Late stage of arthritis; fusion of joints à no joint space ® R=L

Lateral trunk lean to affected side ® R=R

® Innervated by Inferior Gluteal Nerve; Hyperextension of the spine. ® Location

o Initial Contact Phase

o Heel Strike Phase

Innervated by Superior Gluteal Nerve resulting to a signicant dropping of the pelvis causing excessive hip swing or wobbling i. Compensated Trendelenburg

Innervated by the Femoral nerve ® UE assists in knee extension

Innervated by the Deep peroneal nerve

I. Foot slap – stance phase heel strike

II. Foot drop with toe drag – swing phase

Innervated by the Tibial nerve.

Decreased step length of uninvolved limb=Decreased strength of plantarflexor à decreased step length of uninvolved/contralateral step due to lack of push off of involved limb à unable to propel body forward

Hemiplegic side: circumduction to provide foot clearance ® N side: vaulting (plantarflex)
