In the 1700s, a scientist named Carolus Linnaeus made a system to group animals with similar features. He used his eyes and knowledge to do this, but today scientists use special tools to find even more details. For example, scientists learned that chimpanzees are more closely related to humans than to gorillas. We share an ancestor with chimps from millions of years ago!
