Types of assessment (TKT)

When a student's work is judged through a test and they are given a report or a grade to indicate how successful or unsuccessful they have been.

When a test is used at the end of a course. A grade is given, but no other feedback is provided.

When a teacher decides whether a student is doing well or not, but does not necessarily set a test or write an official report or give a grade.

When a teacher gives students feedback on their progress during a course, instead of at the end, so they can learn from the feedback.

A collection of works that a student uses to showcase what they have done during a particular course. An intentional document that is regularly added to and may be part of the assessment.

A type of test that is different from a final exam. Part or all of the work that students do during a course is regularly considered by the teacher and contributes to the final grade given to the students. It may also include monitoring performance in class and contribution.
