The king, enamored by Sritanyu's beauty, devises a plan to separate them. He sends Pati on a difficult mission and proposes to Sritanyu, who refuses. Upon Pati's return, the king falsely accuses Sritanyu of infidelity. In anger, Pati takes Sritanyu to a river, where she proves her innocence by making the river smell sweet. Regretting his disbelief, Pati mourns her death. The place is named Baniwani, meaning fragrant water.
