Tundras are cold, treeless biomes with low rainfall. There are two types: alpine, found on mountains, and arctic, near the Arctic Ocean. Alpine tundras have a 180-day growing season and support wildlife like goats and birds. Arctic tundras have permafrost, limiting tree growth but allowing shrubs and wildlife like foxes and bears. Global warming is melting permafrost, releasing carbon and altering ecosystems.
