In the Kingdom of Peri, Princess Diane Sumi makes an oath to marry whoever picks up her fallen yarn, which is done by Tumong, a royal dog. They marry, and she gives birth to Sang Kuryang, who grows up unaware of his father's identity. Sang Kuryang accidentally kills Tumong during a hunt, leading to Diane Sumi's exile. Years later, Sang Kuryang unknowingly proposes to his mother. To avoid the marriage, Diane Sumi sets an impossible task for him. When Sang Kuryang nearly completes it, she prays for dawn to come early, causing him to fail. Upon learning the truth, Sang Kuryang is furious and kicks a boat, which becomes Tangkuban Perahu Mountain.
