Odin, plagued by nightmares of three monstrous figures, discovers they are Loki's children. He sends Thor and Tyr to capture them: Jörmungandr, Hel, and Fenrir. While Jörmungandr and Hel are easily dealt with, Fenrir poses a challenge. Odin attempts to bind Fenrir with chains, but only succeeds with the help of the Dwarves, who create Gleipnir. Fenrir is bound, but Odin's actions ultimately lead to his own doom as Jörmungandr and Hel rise to power.
