Edith Maud Eaton, born in 1865 to a British father and Chinese mother, moved to Montreal at age 7. She became a writer, publishing essays and stories, and worked for the Montreal Witness. Her mixed heritage allowed her to travel to the US, where she wrote about Chinese immigrant experiences under the pen name Sway Sin Far. Her stories educated audiences on racial prejudice and sexism. Edith gained recognition, wrote for national magazines, and published 'Misses Spring Fragrance' in 1912. She died in 1914, leaving a lasting legacy.
