In the 4th century BCE, Vishnugupta advised King Dhanananda to form an alliance against foreign threats, but was dismissed. Enraged, he vowed to overthrow the king. Vishnugupta later met Chandragupta, a promising young leader, and trained him. Together, they built an army and overthrew Dhanananda, establishing Chandragupta as the emperor of Magadh. Vishnugupta, now known as Chanakya, became the chief advisor. Despite their success, the Mauryan Empire faced challenges from the west, which will be explored in the next video.
