In 1999, a mummy was discovered on Mount Yayo, the world's tallest active volcano. Led by Dr. Johan Reinhardt, the team found the mummy wrapped in well-preserved textiles. The artifacts, dating back over 500 years, linked the mummy to the Inca civilization. The mummy, known as the Maiden, is conserved by Gabriella Rogno Browning and attracts global visitors. The discovery offers a rare glimpse into the Inca Empire, which lacked a written language and was largely wiped out by Spanish conquest.
