During the first millennium CE, both China and Europe experienced significant changes as great empires fell and new religions emerged. China, unlike Europe, quickly unified and developed a homogeneous culture resistant to external influences. After the fall of the Later Han Dynasty, China was reunified under the Sui and Tang dynasties. The Tang Dynasty marked a period of cultural and technological advancement, becoming a model for other Eastern societies.
