The Black Sea is a critical geostrategic region linking Europe, the Middle East, and Russia. It has been central to Russian President Vladimir Putin's efforts to regain influence post-Soviet Union. The Soviet Union's collapse in 1991, due to economic stagnation and military overextension, led to the independence of its republics. Since then, Russia has engaged in military aggressions, including actions against Georgia and Ukraine. The Black Sea plays a key role in these conflicts, housing Russia's Black Sea Fleet. In response, NATO has increased its presence in the region to counteract Russian activities.
