Myanmar announced it has no more political prisoners following a broad amnesty. This move is part of President Tein Sein's promise to release all political detainees by the end of the year. The first amnesty covers those convicted of political offenses like treason and rebellion, while a second amnesty concerns five political prisoners with different charges. Since the dissolution of the Junta Military in 2011, Myanmar has progressively released hundreds of opposition figures, including monks, lawyers, and journalists.
