Landmarks - Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge, a combination bascule and suspension bridge in London, was built to ease congestion and allow river traffic. Designed by Horace Jones and John Wolf Barry, it took eight years to complete, opening in 1894. The bridge features two towers and a central span that can be raised. Initially powered by steam, it was later upgraded to oil and electric motors. Notable incidents include a biplane flying through and a bus jumping the gap.
