Genetics in Our Lives: Chromosome Theory

Walter Sutton expanded on Mendel's work to propose that genes, which determine traits, are located on chromosomes. By studying grasshoppers, he suggested that these chromosomes are found in the nucleus of cells. Independently, Theodore Boveri reached similar conclusions. Sutton's chromosome theory posits that genes are passed from parents to offspring as chromosomes, which control the traits of organisms.
