Mount Semeru eruption causes explained

The catastrophic eruption at Mount Simaru on December 6th resulted in deadly ash, lava, and mud flows, causing 22 fatalities. Mount Simaru, one of Indonesia's most active volcanoes, experienced instability due to accumulated material and persistent rain, leading to a lava dome collapse. This released an ash plume 15 km high and pyroclastic flows that moved towards the southeastern slope, forming mud flows in the Kobokan River valley.
