The protest, demanding President Alejandro Giammattei's resignation over corruption and budget opacity, remained peaceful for three hours. Giammattei, in power for 10 months, faces criticism for a budget that neglects urgent issues like poverty and education. He has called for national dialogue and accused attempts to destabilize democracy. The Organization of American States is assessing the situation.
