NASA Develops Ventilator Prototype for COVID-19 Patients

NASA developed a ventilator called Vital for COVID-19 patients in 37 days. It is designed to be built quickly and maintained easily, using fewer parts available in existing supply chains. Vital is intended for patients who do not need advanced ventilators and is expected to last three to four months. NASA is seeking expedited FDA approval and has sent the prototype for further testing. Commercial manufacturers are being contacted for production.
