John Geddert, former coach of the U.S. women's gymnastics team at the 2012 Olympics, committed suicide after being charged with sexual assault and human trafficking. He faced allegations of physical, verbal, and sexual abuse at his Michigan club, Twist Stars. Larry Nassar, a former team doctor, also worked there and was convicted of abusing over 200 athletes. Geddert was accused of lying to police about Nassar's actions and forcing victims to seek Nassar's medical attention. An investigation into Geddert began in 2018, leading to his retirement.
