White truffles from Alba, Italy, are more valuable than gold. Recently, 11 truffles were auctioned for over $360,000. A notable sale included two truffles bought by a Chinese writer for $120,000. Another truffle was purchased by a businessman for New York's mayor, Bill de Blasio. The auction proceeds will support cancer research and a new scanner for San Lázaro Hospital in Alba.
