Over 3,000 indigenous leaders from Latin America gathered in Brasilia to defend their rights. Despite constitutional protections, many states, including Brazil, fail to recognize indigenous land demarcations. In Brazil, lands of 305 ethnic groups have been invaded by settlers due to agricultural expansion. Indigenous communities globally face similar challenges, defending their territories against agribusiness interests. In Brazil, land devastation, threats, and violence against indigenous leaders have become prevalent, with 891 homicides recorded since 2003.
