VOICED : Brasil refuerza lucha contra el virus zika

Brazil is intensifying its Zika virus prevention efforts by deploying 200,000 military personnel to distribute information and repellents. While blood tests exist for dengue and chikungunya, none are available for Zika. A Rio de Janeiro lab has developed a system to assess the risk of Zika infection. Zika is suspected of causing fetal malformations, prompting increased caution for pregnant women. In October, Brazil reported an unusual microcephaly outbreak linked to Zika in the northeast. The WHO warns that Zika will spread across the Americas, excluding Chile and Canada.
