The Venezuelan government has invited five countries to help revive the stalled dialogue with the opposition, which was initially supported by the Vatican and UNASUR. The countries include Nicaragua, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic, Uruguay, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Venezuela's Foreign Minister, Delcy Rodríguez, criticized the OEA and its Secretary-General, Luis Almagro, for their handling of the situation, calling it a global embarrassment. The dialogue was suspended in December due to mutual accusations of non-compliance, and the opposition refuses to return to talks amid ongoing protests that have resulted in numerous deaths.
