Unlike Zika, Chikungunya is new, and the population lacks antibodies. It could affect 30-50% of people, and Brazil's healthcare system is unprepared for a large epidemic. Symptoms are similar to Zika and dengue, with severe cases in those with diabetes, hypertension, or arthritis. In 2016, 14,000 cases were reported in Rio de Janeiro, with 10 deaths.
